GET INVOLVED

      COMMUNITY

You may not realize it but you can make history.  Your old photographs, notes, posters, newspapers, movies, papers that are in the garage or stored in the back of your closet, are important to us.

The Latino history of San Diego is largely unwritten because people do not know about what others have done or their struggles in life.

We will take your old stuff and organize it and make it available to the general public and to students and scholars.  Your archives will be a permanent record for others to draw insipiration from.

Don't let other people make up our history.  Help give them the truth and contribute your records.

Students and educators can  materials on-line and be able to use the archive to write original research.  Educators can use the archive as a resource to illustrate their lectures and to construct class activities.

Our archivists are ready to help you find what you need.  Just click on the button below to get in touch with them.

Since September 2007 a group of community representatives, faculty, and library staff at SDSU have been developing a Chicana/o Archive Project.    The purpose is to preserve the priceless records of the struggles of  the struggle for civil rights, and an end to second class citizenship, and educational underachievement.   The library staff along with a committee  have worked together to build an important archive collection, one that will benefit present and future students and community members who want to tell the story of how Chicanas and Chicanos have struggled to improve their lives here in the border region.  â€‹
